Stewardship is our individual response to God’s grace poured out to us and is demonstrated on many levels. Tithing is the Biblically-based giving of a percentage of our income to the Church for its support and ministry. The tithe is literally “one tenth”. Grace Church follows the Alabama Plan, designed by the late Alabama Bishop Furman Stough, in setting its annual budget. The budget is written only after all the financial pledges for the year have been received. Our financial obligation to the parish represents our commitment to the life and work of the Body of Christ. More information on percentage giving is available at the Episcopal Church of the United State’s website www.ecusa.anglican.org. Planned Giving allows parishioners to make bequests to the parish through their estates at the time of their death, enabling the ministry and worship of the Church to continue. Memorial Gifts throughout the year are ways of acknowledging a special personal or family event or offering thanks to God for the life of a person who has died. All memorial gifts are used by the Vestry to finance some specific need in the parish and a record of the memorial is maintained for posterity. Individual notes of gratitude are sent to donors and acknowledgments to families being honored are written by the clergy and the vestry senior warden.Alter Flowers donations for Altar Flowers in memory of loved ones or in honor of an anniversary, birthday, etc., can be made by calling the church office. |
